SHOW SCHEDULE
Born in Manchester ages ago 😂
Started DJing by chance when I was 12. I was at the local youth club and the organiser didn’t get back from the toilet in time.
Yours truly jumped on stage and played the next record. It was on 2 old record players.
When the organiser came back he left me to it and after 1 hour he said I was doing better than he did. Presented on pirate radio.
Worked and DJ’d in Jersey Channel Islands throughout 1976. (The heatwave year)
Got into online streaming a radio station some time ago with name changes finally arriving at Dorset Riviera Radio™️ based in Poole Dorset.
Here’s to further expansion.
I thoroughly enjoy what I do.
I hope you do too.
Growing up in the 60/70s I was lucky to have 2 older sisters who loved music so I got to listen to everything from soul to pop and played every record they brought home.
Then I found an album my sister borrowed by a band named Led Zeppelin and my passion for rock music was born.
I still love all things rock and currently have a slot on Dorset Riviera Radio (times vary)
Jay D
Presenter / Producer - Happy Monday show
Mondays 7 - 9pm
Born in London, my long suffering partner Mrs D and I moved to Dorset back in 2009, having spent many wonderful visits to the south coast previously.
Compared to our other fantastic presenters, I started djing late when I was roughly about 19/20 years old... I attended many events with my father in the years leading up to taking over his equipment. He had previously been a mobile dj for 30 odd years within London, so I ultimately picked up the bug of entertaining people via djing.
Within the last 5 years I have grown this passion and managed to spend more time on local radio across Poole & Bournemouth.
Thanks to DRR, I now find myself here as a part of the superb team where I present 'Happy Monday' funnily enough every Monday between 7 & 9pm.
Anything goes & usually does within these two hours and as a lover of all music, my range of music is from the 50s to today's newest music, covering many genres of the finest & happiest of music!
Neil Down "Witty Neil"
I was born and raised (because I was pretty short at the time) in Bournemouth and have lived in Dorset all my life (if you dont count the time I didn't).
I started deejaying pretty much from when I was at school. Radio 1 got me started, with influences such as the likes of Adrian Juste, Steve Wright and Kenny Everett..
I was once asked if I do funerals... I never have (you have to draw a line somewhere) but have have covered most other events.
I started presenting on Bigtone Radio in 2020 with Sunday Brunch 1012 and with it's world class listeners, haven't looked back..
I'm very excited at being part of the new adventure that is.... Dorset Riviera Radio
Steve’s passion since the 1970’s for Northern Soul, Motown and 60’s & 70’s club soul classics is well known, and his favourite music has given him a desire to share the tunes.
During the 1990’s, Steve became a DJ/Promoter and has become successful in creating an extensive following whilst DJing throughout the south of England at weekend events, club nights and parties.
Steve created the ‘Incrowd Soul Society’ in 1992 and this has become a haven for likeminded people to meet and form new friendships at his events whilst enjoying the ambiance of the music.
Steve does not have a signatory introduction, nor does he use playlists, his preference is to play tunes that allow his listeners and dancers to move rhythmically to the music and, enjoy themselves.
Nick Ledbury
Presenter / Producer I Like It Like That Show
6PM Sundays
Born in the 50s, grew up in the 60s & have had fun ever since, also I’m a proud “South Brummie” as you will notice when you hear my voice.
I’ve been an avid collector of music for over 50 years start with Jazz then Beat, Glam Rock, Prog, New Wave, Electronic, Folk & World Music.
I am a live music freak & go to loads of gigs large & small every week.
I’m also a musician, a drummer (some would dispute, a drummer is a musician) playing Kit & various world percussion in theatrical percussion group called “Glamba” & we used to regularly appear on CBeebies “Justin’s House”
I have worked as a front of house & technician at various theatres & used to love chatting & hearing stories from the acts , some that I share on my show.
I was a mobile dj for many years but now I have channeled all that into being a radio presenter.
So, if you want to hear something different, then “Turn On, Tune In & Drop Out” (love that saying) with me Nick Ledbury because “I Like It Like That”
My show streams every Sunday from 6pm
I was born in Bournmouth, lived here all of my life.
I left school in summer 1976 & worked at Shand Kydd Wallpapers as an apprentice printer.
I started DJing in 1979 & never looked back. Had my own mobile discotheque and still do gigs to this very day.
I left these shores to pursue radio work in Portugal, had a great time opening bars and the like out there until the local laws changed the rules & all us brits were forced home.
Hospital Radio Bedside in Bournmouth took me under their wing and I still present to this day, paying back to the NHS after having major surgey twice.
And that, my friends, brings me here to Dorset Riviera radio and I love it.
I present All Our Yesterdays - yesterdays music today - streamed on Tuesdays and Saturdays
